Reichskanzleitrakt The Heldenplatz (Square of Heroes), which is located nearby, is very impressive. Statues of Archduke Karl (riding on horses), who won the battle of Aspern against Napoleon's troops, and of Prince Eugene of Savoy, who defeated the Turks, are reminders of Austria's imperial past.
The Heldenplatz is more than a square, it is one of Austria's symbols of national identity.

The Spanish Riding School was founded 1572 and it is the oldest and nowadays even the last Riding School where classic horse dressage is still practised in its purest form.
The Lipizzaner that has been bread in Slovenia (Lipizza) is regarded to be the oldest classic horse race in Europe.
They need to undergo a long and difficult training before they are able to perform their prancing their popular horse ballet shows to the sound of classical music. These shows are often sold out for weeks in advance. In July and August the white horses enjoy their well-deserved summer break.
